Oh, the faithfulness of the Lord! He doesn’t just ‘give us a word’ and then leave us. He will follow through exactly as promised and be by our side to celebrate our blessing. Verse ten says, “I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life.” (KJV) When the promise is birthed, God will be there to acknowledge our faith and give further guidance.
There is so much purpose in all that happens to us. The affect of our obedience is so far-reaching. Regardless of the incredible barriers we may face from time to time, God is faithful to do the impossible for those who believe.
Sarah did laugh, and we may have, too. What about having a baby at ninety years old? Well, verse fourteen pretty much sums up God’s response to Sarah’s nervous laugh by saying “is anything too hard for the Lord?” We can’t deny that we think the chances of God intervening in our situation is sometimes laughable, but that doesn’t make God less than God Almighty in our circumstance.
Sarah claimed that she didn’t laugh when God questioned Abraham about why she would do such a thing, but God knew her faith was weak; he simply stated the fact that he would return at the time appointed and Sarah would have a son. What a God! What a great God! What a faithful God! He desires to bless us more than we’re able to believe.
Will you believe in his love today? He’s ready to pour out blessing and favor on all who believe and, by times, on those who can’t.
