Genesis 18:1-8

We can learn a lot from the story of Abraham about the character of people throughout the Bible to whom God showed great favor. Abraham certainly was hospitable. He saw these three men passing by his tent and he ‘ran’ to meet them. Abraham was a very prominent and wealthy man. It’s not like he didn’t have friends or had to go out of his way to impress people. He simply had a heart to serve and wanted to give some relief to these three strangers who were traveling by his place in the heat of the day. What a guy!

Oh, how the body of Christ needs a baptism of humility and hospitality. God is still looking to pour out his blessing on those who will represent him in his true character. Don’t you love the way Abraham is urgent in his kindness? It wasn’t a halfhearted effort. He “ran” to meet them, “hastened” to tell Sarah to make the bread, asked her to make it “quickly,” and “ran” to the herd, etc, etc. Can you sense the urgency? Can you envision Abraham dashing from the tent to the flock and back to the tent? What brings God the greatest satisfaction and sense of accomplishment is when we do righteously enthusiastically.

Many would have us believe this generation is cursed with a spirit of mediocrity and a ‘whatever’ attitude. Thank God, there are many committed, dedicated, and Kingdom-driven teenagers, rising up to break the barriers of boredom and selfishness to share Christ. By example and with enthusiasm, these young men and women are declaring war on the devils of laziness and indecision.

Get ready for God to pour out his favor on this generation of young warriors as they take back what the devil stole from their forefathers. Let’s get urgent about loving people, and, in humility, serve those in need. We never know; we may be entertaining angels. (Hebrews 13:2).
