Genesis 17:20-21

What a tremendous privilege it is for you and I to be in covenant with God Almighty! Yes, Ishmael received a blessing, but Isaac had a covenant. A blessing can be so fleeting and really holds no guarantee. A covenant, on the other hand, is binding, and denotes legal authority and right. God, through the blood of Jesus, gives us family status. He wants to adopt us into an eternal inheritance.

You and I should never settle for a quick fix to our temporary problems. What we need to do is get in covenant with God. This is accomplished when we accept, through faith, all which is promised to us as his children. As much as we enjoy temporal blessings, the real eternal benefits of God are experienced in being his child. Why be content with a handout here and there when we can have the entire Kingdom of God.

God is desperate to continue revealing his unconditional love to us. As if the cross were not enough, he still shows his love in so many ways to us even today. What about those times when we felt nobody cared, and God sent someone by to give us a word of encouragement? What about the many times when we were sick, and he healed us? How about how graciously he woke us up this morning and gave us another day to experience his forgiveness and salvation?

What a wonderful father he is! What a great God we have! He designed life so that we could be in covenant with him forever. Will you accept his offer today? Will you be his child and receive all that he has for you? Receive him today.
